Water Element

Water supports life; we can’t live without it. This abundant element found in nature can symbolize power in the ocean, peace in the flowing stream, or reflection in a pool of water. Creative pieces of jewelry can remind us of these different aspects of water by becoming symbols of thought, reflecting the various aspects of our personality, spirituality, and mood. Your mood could have a ripple effect - spread the positive!

The Scorpio sign which spans October through November has water as its element. Characteristics of those born during this time can include determination, curiosity, intuition, and perseverance.

So, the jewelry tip of the week is to include thought provoking jewelry in your collection to help you reflect on life and be a reflection of your life.

Jewelry Tip - Necklines and Necklaces

Accessorize your necklaces to harmonize with your neckline. When coordinating your jewelry with your outfit (or vice versa), take a look at the effect in your mirror. If your eye is drawn to the neckline, great, but if your eye is confused, change! Attention to the focal point of your jewelry piece creates harmony to the eye. If you’re wearing a tailored or button down blouse, a short necklace inside the collar is best. For a strapless top, the best choice is a necklace that doesn’t conflict with the top edge. When wearing a cowl neck, multiple long strands are a good option. Necklaces for a scoop neck will vary depending on the depth of the scoop. A more plunging line requires jewelry inside the neckline while a more conservative line goes with either a bolder piece over the neckline or a shorter one that lies within the scoop. Whichever neckline you wear, choose a necklace that doesn’t compete with the line of the garment, but complements it, and flatters you.
Which of the necklaces below would be best on the each of the 11 necklines in the chart?

Jewelry Trends in Song

Some things never go out of style! Looking at songs from the past as well as current pop hits, the themes of gold, diamonds, and rings keep jumping out. The Black Keys hit, "Gold on the Ceiling" touts the desirability of that precious metal. A James Bond movie that featured the well-known song, "Diamonds are Forever” is a classic, just like a diamond solitaire gold ring. Of course, Marilyn Monroe’s famous "Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend” set the standard way back when and still holds true today. As much as that song put it all out there for that generation, Beyoncé’s "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” is even bolder and highlights the forwardness of today’s attitude. For an understated (or is it underfoot?) look, how about Paul Simon’s "Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes”? You may not want to hide the bling there, but don’t be shy, check out gold, diamonds and rings that suit your style and go for it!

Watch Trend Tip

Watch Trend Tip – Time to Update for Fall
Michele Watch

While changing your clothes closet for the fall, make time to update your watch. One of the trends for this fall includes more attention to detail in women’s watches. There is a growing number of women becoming interested in mechanical watches and complicated functions.  Another trend to “watch” is the use of color. Rose gold is popular and has a softer appeal. Look for rich color on the bracelet as well as the dial for a new and fresh update.
