Personal Style Tip #4 Creative and Dramatic Styles

This week, our last two highlighted personal style types are creative and dramatic.

The creative personality is original, artsy, and unconventional to name a few traits. Experimentation in designs, colors, and combinations is a hallmark of clothing and jewelry choices in this category. Imagination takes flight in the vast array of artistic ideas in this group. Eclectic combinations of classic, modern, and artistic pieces show up in earrings, necklaces, bracelets, and rings.

Another bold personality type is the dramatic style. This type has a flair for bold statements in jewelry and other accessories. Oversized jewelry with strong lines is found in the choices of wide cuff bracelets and large link chains. John Hardy pieces are favored by this style category. There is an attitude of confidence and strength emanating from this personality type. Bold colors add dramatic effect to any piece.

Personal Styles - Feminine and Alluring

The next two styles on our journey through personality types are the Feminine and the Alluring categories.

The feminine style is intuitively romantic and those with this tendency would be drawn towards bows, lace, and ribbons. Flowers are a favorite theme. Fine, lacey details and soft, rounded edges are favored as well.

Vintage pieces are a big hit with this group – you will love to browse estate jewelry in pursuit of a unique statement. Delicate necklaces and bracelets, especially charm bracelets and bangles are your style.

In contrast to the feminine style is the more vivacious alluring personality. If you like to be glamorous and thrive on attention, this is your personality type.

Your jewelry will get you noticed because your will wear large earrings like hoops, chandeliers, and drop styles. Longer, knotted, and Y necklaces will be your favorites.

Following the trend, your bracelets will be dangly and have playful movement to reflect that essential quality of your personality.

Stay tuned next week for two more personality styles – which one are you?

Personal Style Tip #2 Traditional and Elegant Styles

Your personal style says a lot about you. Clothing, accessories, and jewelry (of particular importance as far as we're concerned), all contribute to your overall image. Continuing from last week, we are exploring several personal styles and images. The first style type we discussed last time was called Sporty. This time, the focus is on the next two categories which are Traditional and Elegant.

Applegate's traditional style
The traditional image is typically conservative, favoring jewelry that ‘works at work’. In a professional situation, smaller earrings will be employed such as diamond or pearl studs or even petite hoops. Remember when we explored necklines another week? Well, this style type may tend towards jewel necklines and longer necklaces that extend beyond the top edge of the garment.

Cordova Birthstones

Matched jewelry sets are favorites in this image category. Our Cordova line for example, has matching earrings, bracelets, pendants, and rings in birthstones.

John Hardy

Also on the conservative side is the style type classified as Elegant. Women who envision themselves as this type would be drawn to designer brands such as John Hardy and Simon G. and the classic timeless looks of diamonds and gemstones. Quality and superior design elements are sought after in this style category.

The look is understated and gracefully refined. Pearls, of course, fit this category and would possibly be worn in several strands. Tahitian pearls are an exotically elegant choice.

Personal Style Tip #1

Jewelry Tip of the Week

Personal Style Tip #1 - Your Unique Style and the Sporty Style

You don’t have to hire an image consultant to discern your unique personal style. Your personality determines your jewelry choices as well as your apparel decisions and says a lot about who you are. It's up to you to create an image you are comfortable with and one you want to project.

Two of the experts who brought the idea of image to the forefront of the American psyche are Alyce Parsons and Diane Parente in their Universal Style System. In their comprehensive work, they categorized styles into seven types – Sporty, Traditional, Elegant, Feminine, Alluring, Creative, and Dramatic.

Which one is the real you? Maybe you are a combination of two or more or perhaps it depends on the occasion; is it a holiday, wedding, or pool party? Style can also depend on the situation – business dress, evening out, or sporting event?

The first style type, Sporty, defines an active woman who doesn’t want jewelry to hamper her activities.

If you aspire to this style, you would typically wear small pieces like studs that don’t get in the way of an active lifestyle. Natural materials such as pearls may be a favorite as well as sports motif charms on short chains and bracelets.

Sports celebrities generally follow this trend but there are also stand outs who are nonconformists and like to express their style outside the sports arena.
